LIEN IS A RIGHT TO RETAIN

Dictum

Afrotec Technical Services (Nigeria) Ltd v. Mia & Sons Ltd (2000) ALL NWLR 533 thus: “A lien, broadly speaking is a right to retain that which is in ones possession belonging to another till certain demands of the person in possession are satisfied. The unpaid seller’s lien however is his entitlement to retain the goods in his possession until the buyer has paid or tendered the whole of their price”.
